About the film
1917 was a turning point in world history. The First World War was in full swing, political upheavals were shaking Europe… mass psychology and modern propaganda were entering society. These forces have played a significant role in shaping the world as we know it today.
This documentary is a search for the deeper forces that influence our society. I want to show how mass psychology and propaganda were used at the time to steer public opinion. With this film, I aim to shed light on the origins of the First World War and get to the heart of the question: why do wars keep breaking out in Europe? I want to provide historical context and map out the geopolitical developments. A key aspect I wish to highlight is the major influence of the British in this geopolitical game. I present a critical perspective and aim to portray history as fully and truthfully as possible.
But could we have taken a different path in 1917? That year, Rudolf Steiner introduced the first ideas that would later lead to Social Threefolding—a revolutionary concept that sought to bring freedom, equality, and brotherhood into a new, balanced relationship. His ideas were not widely adopted at the time. Do we now have a new chance?
In my documentary “Op zoek naar vrede”, the period around 1917 takes center stage, but I aim to map out the lead-up to the First World War as comprehensively as possible. After the First World War, the Treaty of Versailles was meant to establish lasting peace in Europe. Yet many wars have taken place on European soil since then—and continue to this day. Peace is not a given. The documentary “Op zoek naar vrede” unravels the geopolitical history of Europe. Experts such as Daniele Ganser, Thomas Meyer, Harrie Salman, John Hogervorst en Terry Boardman share their insights and perspectives in this film.
We are currently living in a time where polarization, disinformation, and hidden power structures play a major role in our society. By shedding light on what happened during the First World War and the events leading up to it, I believe this film provides crucial context for understanding the challenges we still face today. With this documentary, I want to raise awareness of history—but more importantly, I hope to offer inspiration and encourage people to think for themselves, so that everyone can form their own ideas and make choices freely.

Why this crowdfunding
Your donation makes it possible to cover travel and accommodation costs for trips to Switzerland and the UK, where I will interview international speakers who are essential to the story. It also helps me cover basic production expenses—like food and drinks during shoot days, or equipment rental. It allows me to secure rights to use archival footage. I want to offer a modest but fair payment to those contributing to the film—such as the cameraman, the color grader, the sound designer, the voice-over artist, and others involved. And of course, a beautiful premiere needs to be organized to properly present the film! In short: making a film involves more than most people realize.

In de toekomst
The film
“In Search of Peace is, first and foremost, a documentary that raises fundamental questions about power, manipulation, and peace. I aim to show how mass psychology and propaganda were used to influence public opinion. But above all, I want to inspire people and encourage reflection on new paths toward peace. Once released, the film will be freely accessible to everyone.”
insight
Once the film is completed, screenings will be held at various locations across the country. In addition to the film screening, there will also be a lecture by someone featured in the film or another expert with deep knowledge of the topic. With the remaining material, I also plan to create additional short films or podcasts that offer further depth and insight. This way, viewers of the documentary can immerse themselves even more in the subject.
Community
One idea still in development is to create an (online) community around the film—a space where people can connect and exchange ideas. A place to attend webinars or masterclasses, and through guided assignments, gain deeper awareness of history while collectively exploring new insights and ideas for the future. This is still a work in progress.
